FeatureTraditional 4" ร— 4" Wood PostHidden Round Steel Post
Post MaterialWood is strong, but it is an organic material that can absorb moisture, split, warp or decay over time.Steel provides a rigid structural core and does not rot, split or warp like a wood post.
Long-Term StabilityPerformance can change as the post ages and is repeatedly exposed to moisture and changing weather.Consistent steel construction helps the post remain straight and structurally stable over the life of the fence.
Finished AppearanceThe structural wood post remains visible as part of the fence. The steel post is concealed inside the wood assembly, preserving the premium all-redwood appearance.

Steel where it matters. Redwood where you see it.

Wet Set vs. Dry Set Concrete: Why We Choose the More Controlled Process

Wet-set concrete being mixed for fence post installation
FeatureWet Set ConcreteDry Set / No-Mix Method
Water & Mix ControlWater is measured and the concrete is mixed before placement, allowing our crew to see and adjust the consistency of each batch.Dry mix is placed in the hole and then saturated with water. This is an approved method for products specifically designed for no-mix post setting when the manufacturer’s instructions are followed.
Installation TimeTakes more labor because every batch is mixed before it goes into the post hole.Faster and requires less mixing labor, which is one reason it is commonly used for post-setting applications.
Why We Use ItWe prefer the added process control: the mix can be visually checked before it surrounds the post.A valid installation method for compatible products, but the mix hydrates in the hole rather than being fully mixed beforehand.

Both methods can be appropriate when the concrete product is used according to its manufacturer’s instructions. Hermanos Fence uses wet-set concrete on this premium package because we prefer mixing and checking the batch before placement.
